Dr. Gene H. Bell-Villada
Dr. Bell-Villada is a Professor of Romance Languages at Wiliams College. His book Garcia Marquez: The Man and His Work (1990) won the New England Council of Latin American Studies’ Best Book prize and has been translated into Spanish and Turkish.
Among his other scholarly books are Borges and His Fiction: A Guide to His Mind and Art (1981; second ed., 1999) and the wide-ranging Art for Art’s Sake & Literary Life (1996), a finalist for the 1997 National Book Critics Circle Award --translated to Serbian and Chinese. In addition, Dr. Bell-Villada has published two books of fiction, and a memoir.
