Deloitte Hires Nine SCSU Students
The Accounting Department is proud to announce that the Stamford office of Deloitte has hired nine SCSU students within the accounting concentration as either interns or full-time employees. Deloitte is considered one of the "Big Four" public accounting firms in the world and has the largest professional services network measured by revenue and number of professionals.
Within the last year, Yenny Bayas, Lubna Sparks, Luke Velez, Lyman DePriest, and Nick Intino were awarded internships that will hopefully lead to full-time positions. Muhamad Chowdhury, Louis Signor, and Christopher Latella accepted full-time positions which have already begun or will begin in the fall of 2017. Kayla Seminoro was offered a full-time position beginning fall 2017, after she completes an internship.
Full-time work experience for two years at Deloitte meets the experience requirement to be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA); licensed CPAs must also pass the four-part standardized CPA exam.
Dr. Janet Phillips, professor and chair of the Accounting Department, says, “The relationship that has been established between the SCSU Accounting Department and the Stamford office of Deloitte is expected to flourish and provide opportunities for future students as these talented individuals demonstrate that the technical accounting education they earned at SCSU stacks up against that of other programs.” She adds, “The best advertisement for Southern’s Accounting program is definitely our students.”
