COUNSELING AND SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY

Welcome to the Counseling and School Psychology (CSP) website. Our department includes three fully accredited/approved and nationally recognized programs: Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and School Psychology

Our Masters level Counseling programs are fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and recognized by the International Registry of Counselor Education (IRCEP). Our School Psychology Program is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).  Our School of Education is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). 

We have an outstanding faculty of professionals, practitioners, and scholars who are dedicated to making students' learning experiences here at SCSU unique and fulfilling. Our graduates are sought after by schools and agencies and are known for their diligence and excellence in their professional practice.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program:

From Summer 2016 to Spring 2017, there were 10 graduates of SCSU's Clinical Mental Health Counseling Masters program. Our graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on comprehensive examinations and licensing examinations. The pass rate for graduates taking the comprehensive exams was 100%; and, according to our exit interview data, pass rates on the National Counselor Examination for this cohort was 100%. At follow-up in Fall 2017, 90% of students were employed within the field.

School Counseling Program:

From Summer 2016 to Spring 2017, there were 15 graduates of SCSU's School Counseling Masters program. Our graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on comprehensive examinations and licensing examinations. The pass rate for graduates taking the comprehensive exams was 100%. At follow-up in Fall 2016, 81% were employed within the school counseling field.
