COUNSELING AND SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY

Welcome to the Counseling and School Psychology (CSP) website. We are pleased that you have decided to visit us. Our department includes three fully accredited and nationally recognized programs: Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and School Psychology

Our Masters level Counseling programs are fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and the International Registry of Counselor Education (ICREP). Our School Psychology Program is accredited by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).  Our School of Education is accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

We have an outstanding faculty of professionals, practitioners, and scholars who are dedicated to making students' learning experiences here at SCSU unique and fulfilling. Our graduates are sought after by schools and agencies and are known for their diligence and excellence in their professional practice.

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program:

Last year, there were 21 graduates of SCSU's Clinical Mental Health Counseling Masters program. Our graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on comprehensive examinations and licensing examinations. The pass rate for graduates taking the comprehensive exams was 100%; and, according to our exit interview data, pass rates on the NCE examination for this cohort was 100%. Prior to graduation, 50% of graduates reported already having a job within the field. Of those program graduates responding to surveys, 100% were employed within the counseling field.

School Counseling

Last year, there were 14 graduates of SCSU's School Counseling Masters program. Our graduates consistently achieve high pass rates on comprehensive examinations and licensing examinations. The pass rate for graduates taking the comprehensive exams was 100% and, according to our exit interview data, pass rates on the NCE examination for this cohort was 100%. Prior to graduation, 50% of graduates reported already having a job. Upon following up with alumni within the fall, 100% were employed within the school counseling field.
