Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:
Southern Connecticut State University, conveniently located between Boston and New York City, has been experiencing significant growth in recent years. The School of Business, in particular, has increasing enrollments, significant success in external fundraising and occupies a new building since August 2012.
As a result, the department of accounting currently has two anticipated vacancies; one for a Tax Specialist and the other for a Financial Accounting generalist to teach Intermediate, Introductory and other accounting courses as necessary. Individuals qualified to teach both Taxation and Financial accounting will be considered. Both positions will be required to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Scholarly activities, productive service and student advisement are required; engagement with the business community is expected.
Applicants for the Tax specialist position should be qualified in taxation (i.e., JD and LLM or MST) and those for the Financial Accounting position should have either an earned doctorate in accounting or business. Strong candidates with an ABD will be considered. Evidence of ability to teach at the university level effectively is required. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to engage in meaningful scholarship/creative activity, leading to presentations at professional meetings and publications in peer-reviewed journals in their discipline. Ability to be classified as qualified faculty under AACSB standards is critically important.
