Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities: SCSU's Department of Art seeks an assistant professor/tenure track position to primarily teach undergraduate courses in various areas of Graphic Design. Candidates should expect to work closely with undergraduate and graduate students as well as assuming internship coordination responsibilities. The ability to communicate effectively to a diverse group, both orally and in writing, is expected. In addition to a teaching load of 3-3, 3-2, the successful candidate will take the lead in coordinating/revising the curriculum in graphic design.
Candidate must be committed to teaching within a vibrant/demanding public liberal arts and sciences environment, and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring and creative activity with undergraduates. All faculty at SCSU share in academic advising and participate in departmental and university service.
Tenure-track faculty at SCSU are expected to conduct creative activity/research in their area of expertise. These activities include, but are not limited to, research leading to publication of books and/or articles in academic and professional journals, performances/exhibitions in the fine and performing arts, seeking funding in support of research and teaching needs, and contributing to workshops and conferences.

Required Qualifications: To be considered, candidates must have an MFA in Graphic Design, or equivalent terminal degree, at the time of appointment. Candidates should possess a demonstrated record of professional accomplishments and be fluent in contemporary design theory, web-based design techniques and interactive media. An excellent working knowledge with Mac computers, the Adobe Creative Suite (CS6), Epson printers, and other appropriate software is required.
Preferred Qualifications: University teaching experience beyond instruction at the graduate assistant level is preferred.
