Current students, faculty, and staff are eligible to join the SCSU Fitness Center. Student semester memberships are only sold online.  Summer memberships are only sold in- person with Hoot Loot. 

Student Membership

Eligibility

All Southern students are eligible to join the Fitness Center during the term in which they are enrolled.

If you are under 18 years of age print out the Liability Waiver and have your parent co-sign the waiver. You'll need to bring the waiver to the Fitness Center before your online membership request can be processed and activated.

 

Students under 18 years of age must have a parent co-sign the liability waiver before the student can join.

Membership Fees

There is NO winter break membership term. 

If you try to join online and are told to join in person, stop in anytime during hours of operation.

How to Join

Single Semester

Review the Fitness Center's policies (especially our dress code). Membership fees are non-refundable.

Register with your MySCSU username and password. Read through the Fitness Center waiver and membership details and agree to all terms

Request a membership and authorize us to add the $45 fee to your University bill.**

Congratulations! You're a member and can start using the facility right away. It may take up to 2 weeks to bill you, so please check your e-bill in a few days and pay membership fee upon notification of charge.

 

Non-members must agree to policies & sign electronic waiver upon their first visit to attend free programs.

**If you have financial aid, you'll be required to authorize the University to use excess funds to cover your membership fee. This is called a Title IV waiver. If you do not complete the authorization, we cannot bill you. Learn more about financial aid authorization for payment of non-institutional charges. Contact us if you have any questions!

Summer Membership

Join in person at the Fitness center for $25 Hoot Loot. If you are under 18 years of age print out the Liability Waiver and have your parent co-sign the waiver. You'll need to bring the waiver to the Fitness Center before you can use the facility.

Visit Fitness Center during hours of operation to complete electronic waiver and make payment.

Once you have registered, view our classes in our Group Exercise Schedule (be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to sign in at the desk)!

Membership includes unlimited access to a variety of group exercise classes. Fees must be paid with Hoot Loot.

How to Join

Annual Membership, Paying in Full

$156 Hoot Loot

Complete the Membership Application and Liability Waiver.

Add $156 to your Hoot Loot card. (Visit hootloot.SouthernCT.edu to find out how).

Bring completed application and hoot loot card to the fitness center during hours of operation.

Annual Membership, Payroll Deduction

$156: $6 deducted from your check per pay period.

Complete the Membership Application and Liability Waiver and Payroll Deduction Authorization Form.

Return completed application to Fitness Center during hours of operation.

Your membership begins immediately, although your deduction may take 1-2 pay periods to show the $6 deduction which will continue until the $156 is collected.

Only Full-time Permanent Faculty and Staff may use payroll deduction to pay for 12 month memberships. Contracts are for 12 months.

Single Semester Membership

$75 with an option to convert to a 12 month membership.

If at any time during your first single semester membership you choose to convert your semester ($75) membership into an annual membership ($156), you may pay the difference with hoot loot. Email fitness@southernct.edu to make an appointment with the Fitness Center Coordinator to complete the transaction in person.

Summer Membership

$25 with an option to convert to a 12 month membership.

Try Out for Free

Try out the Fitness Center for seven consecutive days once per semester. Just come to the Fitness Center with your ID to sign up.

Are you ready to start an exercise program?

We encourage you to use the self questionnaire to find out. If you think you are not ready to workout, you should wait to join the SCSU Fitness Center until you have spoken with your physician.

Your safety is our number one priority, so it is important you are healthy enough to join and begin exercising.
