Southern Connecticut State University has relaunched the national search for its next Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Southern seeks an accomplished and innovative academic leader with a passion for serving a diverse and complex institution. The new Provost will have the opportunity to work with Dr. Joe Bertolino, Southern's dynamic president, a strong senior leadership team, an exceptional faculty, a dedicated staff, and impressive students in ensuring the University's position as a vibrant institution offering a 21st century education of excellence.

Due to the closure of campus on Thursday, February 9th, all meetings and forums scheduled with Dr. Furlong regarding the Provost Search have been rescheduled for Friday, February 10th. Dr. Furlong’s schedule has been updated.

Search Timeline

October 2016 Search advertisement and position profile released. Candidate recruitment begins.
November 2016 Committee meets to discuss and decide upon candidate screening procedures.
Early December 2016 Committee reviews all applications and selects 12-15 candidates for further consideration.
Late December 2016 Committee meets to select candidates for off-campus interviews.
January 2017 Committee conducts off-campus interviews and selects 3-4 finalists for on-campus interviews.
Early February 2017 Finalists come to campus for interviews and open forums with University stakeholders. All are encouraged to complete candidate surveys.
Mid February 2017 Search committee reviews all relevant data and submits a detailed assessment to President Bertolino.
March 1 2017 President Bertolino appoints new Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
