The Ronald D. Herron Day of Service
The 2016 Day of Service will be held September 17, 2016, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
The Ronald D. Herron Day of Service is an annual event designated for Southern students, faculty and staff to gather in the local community and work side by side on service projects, benefiting New Haven neighborhoods and the greater New Haven community. This event, which is now in its 10th year, fosters friendship, promotes service, and leaves a positive imprint on our community.
Most of our sites can accommodate between 20-30 students and we do our best to accommodate all groups so they can travel and work together throughout the day. However, large groups may need to be separated in order to meet the needs of the community. Students may register with their Inquiry class, a club or organization, or as an individual. Placements will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis. As many classes, included Inquiry classes, include the Day of Service in their course work, we will do our best to keep all students and their instructors together at sites. Students that register as individuals will be placed at sites with groups.
