Due to cleanup following the snowstorm, the University will have a delayed opening
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4 for students, faculty, and non-essential staff. All
Wednesday classes scheduled to start prior to 10 a.m. are canceled. Food service will
be open in Connecticut Hall from 7:30 a.m. on. The Adanti Student Center will open
at 10 a.m.
One of the unique aspects of living on campus is that you have access to a support
system of nearly 200 full-time and student staff members who are ready to assist you
with your academic and personal needs. Whether you have questions about campus resources,
need assistance transitioning to college life, or just need someone to talk to, we
are here for you. Our residence life staff members include:
Central Office and Administrative Staff
Our central office staff provides leadership and support for the department. This
includes our director, two associate directors, assistant director, and administrative
Hall Director Staff
Our Hall Directors are full-time employees of Southern Connecticut State University
who live in a residence hall and provide supervision of the student staff in the building.
The Hall Director is responsible for the hall community and for assisting students
to access university, academic, and personal resources.
Our Graduate Interns are graduate students who assist the Hall Director in providing
supervision and coverage in the residence halls. Graduate Interns also provide support
in the development of a number of department initiatives, including staff selection,
training, assessment, and programming
Resident Advisor Staff
Our Resident Advisors are undergraduate and graduate students who can assist you to
be academically and personally successful. The Resident Advisor lives on your floor
and will help you transition to college, access university resources, offer support
if you are experiencing personal difficulty, assist you with resolving roommate disagreements,
or simply lend a listening ear if needed. In addition to assisting you they are also
available to help the floor community establish community living expectations, plan
floor social events, and conduct health and safety inspections.
Desk Attendant Staff
Desk Attendants are student employees who provide assistance at the residence hall
front desk. Desk Attendants provide 24-hour coverage in the residence halls when
classes are in session. They can assist you if you are locked out of your room, need
to register a guest, or want to sign out residence hall equipment.
Computer Lab Attendant Staff
Computer Lab Attendants are student employees who monitor and provide user support
in residence hall computer labs.
Additional Student Staff
Additional Student Staff are employed by the Office of Residence Life in a variety
of office and other support positions
