FITNESS CENTER COORDINATOR

Jessica Scibek, M.S., CSCS, ACSM-HFS: Jessica has her B.S. in Human Movement & Sport Science from Sacred Heart University and a M.S. in Exercise Science from SCSU.  She is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a certified Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine.  She oversees all operations of the SCSU Fitness Center and has a passion for promoting health and encouraging active lifestyles to everyone on campus.  She serves on SCSU's IRB committee.  Jess is also an experienced group fitness instructor and teaches Abs, Core, Step, Boot camp, Pilates, cardio-kickboxing and strength training classes. She is TRX® and YogaFit® trained. For information on guest lectures, special programs, or new fitness classes please contact her below.

An amazing group of friendly and outgoing student workers staff our front desk.  They work hard to assist you in any way they can!  Ask questions about upcoming programs, membership, class schedules and how to use equipment and our staff will do their best to meet your needs!  If we don't know an answer, we'll find out and get back to you!

GRADUATE INTERNS

Allison Blacker, B.S., ACSM-HFS: Allison graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a B.S. in Kinesiology. She is a certified Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine and is pursuing her Master's in Exercise Science with a concentration in Human Performance from SCSU. Allison has a passion for helping others meet their physical goals and reach their full potential. With special interests in muscle physiology and physical fitness, Allison promotes fitness through programming, leading workout workshops and providing personal fitness programs. She assists the SCSU Fitness Center with daily operations and strongly encourages healthy and active lifestyles to everyone on campus. With a passion for the human body and education, Allison strives to empower our fitness center members with knowledge so they can continue to improve throughout their lives.

Abigail DeLise, B.S., CSCS, Insanity® instructor, Mad Dogg Spinning, AFAA Primary Group Exercise:  Abby graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a B.S. in Human Performance. She is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is also a certified spinning instructor through Mad Dogg Athletics and a certified group exercise instructor through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America.  Abby is pursuing her Master's in Exercise Science with a concentration in Human Performance from SCSU.  Abby’s passion for fitness is demonstrated through her group exercise classes.  She is an experienced instructor who teaches cycling, abs and toning classes at the Fitness Center.  Abby strives to help others work towards their personal fitness goals.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES: Fall 2014

Front Desk Staff

We look for students who LOVE the fitness center and want to help members have the best experience possible here at the FC.  We are currently accepting applications for Fall 2014. Applications must be picked up and returned to the Fitness Center front desk by 4pm on March 26, 2014.  

Group interviews will be held on Monday 3/31 at 10:30am and 2:30 pm.  Only select applicants will be interviewed.

Group Fitness Instructors

We are always looking for student exercise instructors, even if just to have on our substitute list! If you are interested in becoming and instructor for Fall 2014, pick up an application packet at the front desk and return it by 4 pm on Friday March 28th.

Group exercise group interviews will be held:

                   Wednesday April 2   at 10:30 am or 2:30pm

Auditions will be held for selected candidates:

                   Wednesday April 9  at 10:30 am or 2:30 pm
