Health Insurance

WAIVER (CLICK HERE)

Full-time students are required to maintain health insurance coverage, and will be automatically billed and enrolled in the University plan.  The fall coverage period is 5 months from August 1 - December 31 and costs $1,238.00, and the spring coverage period is 7 months from January 1 - July 31, and costs $1,780.00.  To view plan documents, ask questions about coverage, or print your id card, please visit the Aetna website or call 877-375-4244.

For students that wish to keep the insurance, it will become due with your fall bill on July 18, 2016.  If you wish to pay it with excess financial aid, you must authorize SCSU to apply excess financial aid to non-institutional charges in your MySCSU Portal Banner Web (go to Financial Aid - Award - Award for Aid Year - Select Aid Year - Resources).

WAIVERS

If you have other comparable health insurance and wish to waive coverage to receive a credit on your bill, please submit a waiver application, and allow 1 week for processing.  If the insurance is not waived it will become due with your fall bill on July 18, 2016.  Further, if you do not waive the insurance before the coverage start date of August 1,2016, and your health provider files claims to the plan, you will no longer be eligible to waive the insurance.

Note:  Approved fall waivers will carry forward to the spring, a new waiver doesn't need to be completed unless you are just starting your enrollment in the spring.  All students must reapply annually each fall.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Please email Dr. Erin Heidkamp  or call 203.392.6756 to waive coverage.

ACCIDENT INSURANCE

All full-time students must remain on the accident portion of the plan, which is included in the cost of tuition/fees and can not be waived.  If you have any questions concerning the accident plan coverage, or need to file a claim, please contact Aetna Student Health at 877-375-4244 or visit Aetna Student Health Website.
