Exercise Science Department
The Exercise Science Department at Southern Connecticut State University offers bachelors and masters degrees with fully accredited and nationally recognized program options for students wishing to focus on Athletic Training, Human Performance, Physical Education, Respiratory Care and/or School Health Education. Exercise Science minors include Coaching, Human Performance, School Health Education and Sport Studies. Coursework and research is led by an energetic, caring and accomplished group of faculty members. The Exercise Science Department prepares students to become professionals who can assume leadership roles in a variety of Exercise Science related professions. Our graduates have gone on to work with and assist individuals from young children to elderly adults to improve their personal health status and to develop a wellness based lifestyle.

The mission of the Exercise Science Department is to provide exemplary graduate and undergraduate education in health and fitness. As a broad and diverse department, Exercise Science is committed to educating and developing leaders and practitioners in the disciplines of athletic training, human performance, school health education, physical education and sport studies to benefit the public.

- Athletic Training Education Program - Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)
- Human Performance Program - Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES) and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
- Physical Education Program - National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
- School Health Education Program - National Association for Health Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
