Practicum Education

The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) has determined that “field education is the signature pedagogy of the learning process.” Your placement will be the “laboratory” where you learn and practice social work skills you have learned in the classroom. You will have support during your placement from your on-site supervisor, seminar instructor, advisor, and the Practicum Office.

Hundreds of agencies throughout Connecticut provide supervised internships for our BSW and MSW students, including hospitals, schools, child guidance centers, federally qualified public health centers, community action agencies, veterans’ services, and more. The Practicum Education Office places students in internships to meet their individualized professional goals in their geographic area.
