Cultural heritage months at Southern hold a distinct tradition in honoring the legacy of historically marginalized communities, coordinating events and spaces that build connection and community, and cultivating space to acknowledge and empower our diverse community. Throughout the academic year, the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will cultivate events and programs that celebrate and honor the following Heritage Months:

  • Hispanic & Latine Heritage Month (Mid-September to Mid-October)
  • LGBTQ+ History Month (October)
  • National Disability Employment Awareness Month (October 2024)
  • Native American & Indigenous Heritage Month (November 2024)
  • Black History Month (February)
  • Women's History Month (March)
  • Asian American Pacific Islander Month (Late April-Mid May).

The division shares events, programs, and community-focused spaces for cultural heritage months through the university calendar and campus announcements.
