The College of Education is home to six dynamic departments, each dedicated to preparing the next generation of educators, leaders, and advocates. Through innovative teaching, research, and community partnerships, our departments provide students with the knowledge, skills, and real-world experiences needed to excel in schools, communities, and beyond. Together, these six areas of study reflect the College’s commitment to equity, excellence, and lifelong learning.
Counselor Education
The Counselor Education Department (CED) houses two distinct specialty areas, School Counseling and Counselor Education and Supervision. Program options include Master’s and Advanced Certificates in School Counseling and a Doctorate in Counselor Education.
Curriculum and Learning
The department offers certification programs in elementary education, early childhood education, science education, and reading. Also, the department offers Masters degree in Education and a sixth-year program for classroom teacher specialists. These programs offer the required courses for certified teachers who are seeking cross-endorsement in elementary education.

Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
The department offers graduate degrees for future and current school leaders. Specifically, sixth-year programs, intermediate administrator certification, and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy.
Inclusive Education and Behavior Science
The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in the field of special education. Applicants can apply to a program that leads to initial certification in special education or apply for a Master's Degree or 6th year in Special Education.
Information and Library Science
The Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree provides the essential skills and theoretical foundation needed to succeed as an information professional across a wide range of positions and library settings. Offered fully online, the MLIS program is designed for individuals seeking to begin, develop, or advance their careers in the information field. The program is fully accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).
Mental Health Sciences
The Department of Mental Health Sciences is dedicated to advancing the understanding, promotion, and practice of mental wellness across educational, clinical, and community settings.
