Brief Description of Duties/Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in freshman chemistry, and organic/biochemistry as well as graduate-level courses in candidates' specialty. Candidate must be committed to teaching within vibrant/demanding public liberal arts and sciences environment, and demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring and research with undergraduates. All faculty at SCSU advise students and participate in department/university service. Nominal teaching load is 12 credit-hours per semester.

Tenure-track faculty at SCSU are expected to conduct creative activity/research in their area of expertise. These activities include, but are not limited to, research leading to publication of books and/or articles in academic and professional journals, performances in the fine and performing arts, seeking funding in support of research and teaching needs, and contributing to workshops and conferences. Candidates with the motivation/expertise to develop a new concentration in chemical genomics at the undergraduate level and/or a graduate certificate are strongly encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in chemistry and research / job experience in chemical genomics are required. ABD candidates will be considered if Ph.D. is anticipated by time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those who have experience teaching organic or biochemistry at the undergraduate level.
