Brief Description of Duties/ Responsibilities
Southern Connecticut State University is accepting applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant/Associate / Full Professor to work in the Recreation and Leisure Studies Department beginning August 2014. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in core areas of the recreation and leisure studies curriculum as well as specialization courses commensurate with applicant background and experience. The department will entertain applicants with a broad cross-section of expertise. Candidates with background in sports management and/or therapeutic recreation are encouraged to apply; however, other areas of specialization will be considered. Additional responsibilities include student advisement; department, college, and university service; scholarship/creative activity; and professional activity.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate field of study. Candidates who are ABD may be considered; however the doctorate must be completed by the completion of first year of service. Additionally, candidates must have the ability to teach core and specialization classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level; ability to engage in meaningful scholarship/creative activity; ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction; and to advise student field experiences.
A minimum of one degree in the field of Recreation and Leisure Studies; previous work experience in the fields of recreation, sports management, and/or therapeutic recreation; evidence of prior effective teaching and a demonstrated record of scholarship and creative activity.
