Southern Connecticut State University invites applications for a full time, tenure track position in the Department of Social Work to begin August 2014. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students in the areas of social welfare policy and macro practice, with the opportunity to teach across the curricula.

The mission of the Department of Social Work is to provide quality social work education to undergraduate and graduate students and to advance knowledge through study, practice, and research. The purpose of undergraduate education is to prepare students to work in BSW level agency-based social work positions and to enter graduate social work programs. The purpose of graduate education is to prepare students for direct clinical practice at generalist and advanced levels.

The teaching load at SCSU is 12 credits per semester. Additional faculty responsibilities include student advising and committee assignments. Candidates must also demonstrate the capacity to produce peer-reviewed scholarship. Faculty Reassigned Time may be available for research and scholarship endeavors.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must possess an MSW and a Ph.D. or (DSW) in Social Work or related field from an accredited college or university. ABD's will be considered based on evidence of completion of doctorate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Two years teaching at either an undergraduate or graduate level program in social work is preferred. Successful record in obtaining grants is also desirable.
