Southern's Athletics - A Tradition of Excellence for Nearly 75 Years
Consistently ranking among the top ten Division II colleges and universities for the most individual championships, Southern Connecticut State University prides itself on athletic excellence. At the heart of our success is our active membership in a number of esteemed athletic conferences, including the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Northeast-10 Conference. Since our programs compete at the national level, our student-athletes provide a high profile means of bringing pride and public recognition to the university.
Success as a student athlete requires a balance between academics and athletics and our students have found that balance. During the fall 2016 semester, the Owls’ 400-plus student-athletes combined to record a grade point average in excess of 3.0. A total of 225 student-athletes were honored for academic success by the Northeast-10 Conference with selections to the league’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Our student athletes perform best when they are not burdened by financial concerns. To maintain their academic achievements and commitment to athletics, many rely on the financial support of alumni and friends. With your contributions to athletic scholarships and programs, we can continue the tradition of excellence by providing our student-athletes with the necessary tools to achieve success.
