The Integrated Communications & Marketing team provides a range of services to Southern's faculty and staff, with a focus on creating and maintaining a unified look, feel, and voice across modes of communication while promoting the university's mission and core values in all that we produce.
Do you have a news story you would like to share with the campus community and/or the general public? Integrated Communications & Marketing is always looking for story ideas and tips. What are we looking for?
- Faculty or student research
- Human interest stories
- New programs
- Upcoming events
- Special projects
In most cases, story ideas with broad appeal or relevance to people’s lives are more likely to attract media attention.
If you have a story idea, send a brief description, along with your contact information, to Patrick Dilger, ICM director, at dilgerp1@southernct.edu, or call him at (203) 392-6588.
For story ideas pertaining to the arts and humanities, contact Betsy Beacom at beacomb1@southernct.edu or (203) 392-6589.

The university photographer provides images for all aspects of marketing on behalf of the university, and documents everyday life on the campus, as well as newsworthy events, and takes environmental portraits and head shots of faculty, staff, and students as needed for university purposes.
Photography services are only available upon written request and depend upon the availability of the photographer. There may be a charge to a university department for enlargements, digital files, and services.
To request photo services, please fill out the online request form three weeks before the event, or if three weeks' notice cannot be given, as early as possible before the event. Requests submitted the day before or the day of the event may be honored only at the discretion of ICM.
We maintain a database of images, including stock images for media and publications, event photos, and portraits. These images will be made available to other university departments and outside media agencies as needed. A fee may apply. Please email the university photographer, Isabel Chenoweth, for information about accessing images in the database.

If you are a member of the campus community preparing for an interview with the media, or you just have general questions about the process, Integrated Communications & Marketing can help.
We understand that being interviewed on TV or radio, or even talking with a newspaper reporter, can be stressful – especially for those who have little or no experience in dealing with the media. We can offer suggestions, or in some cases provide a simulated interview, to better prepare you.
Contact Patrick Dilger for assistance or questions about the media. He can be reached at dilgerp1@southernct.edu, or at (203) 392-6588.
