Mohamed A. Rilvan, under the advisement of Dr. Shafaeat Hossain, presented a paper titled "User Authentication and Identification on Smartphones by Incorporating Capacitive Touchscreen" in IEEE International Performance Computing and Communications Conference (IPCCC), Las Vegas, Nevada, December, 2016.
Southern's first iGEM team, under the advisement of Dr. Nick Edgington, won bronze medal in Nov 2016 for its work to find a faster method to detect tuberculosis. Team members are Bryan Pasqualucci, Thomas Hoang, Karalyn Farr, Patrick Flynn, Rye Howard-Stone, Christopher Wojtas, Hafssa Chbihi, Julio Badillo and Zachary Matto. Click here to read more.
Cody Edson presented his research titled "Determination of Arsenic Concentration using Silver Nitrate in Commercially Available Field Test Kits with Digital Image Analysis" at the Water Innovation Workshop / SENCER New England Regional Meeting, Oct 24, 2016 at WPI, Worcester, MA. His project was conducted under the advisement of Dr. James Kearns, Chemistry Dept. Cody's poster is one of the 3-way tie for first runner-up Best Poster Award.
Lela Jackson's research jointly conducted with Cody Edson and Dr. Vince Breslin titled "Plastic Microbead Contamination in New Haven Harbor, Connecticut" was presented at the Water Innovation Workshop / SENCER New England Regional Meeting, Oct 24, 2016 at WPI, Worcester, MA. Her poster received the People's Choice Award.
Tudor Boran and John Voss, under the advisement of Dr. Shafaeat Hossain, presented their work titled "Authorship Categorization of Public Domain Literature" in IEEE Ubiquitous Computing, Electronics & Mobile Communications Conference (UEMCON), in New York City, NY, Oct, 2016.
