Completing a degree program and preparing for today's job market requires that students be well prepared, creative, and able to use a variety of programs and services that help them develop the necessary skills. To provide our students with the most up-to-date and comprehensive career development tools, the Center for Career Services offers an array of career planning programs to help students decide what major to pursue, what career best suits them, and how to begin the all important job search process. Freshman and sophomore year is the ideal time to begin your career planning.

Each year the Academic and Career Advising Center holds a career fair that bring national and regional employers representing all fields to the Southern campus. The fairs foster student and employer interaction while offering students the opportunity to explore various careers, learn about organizations and industries, and apply for full-time, part-time, internship, and cooperative education opportunities.

Several times during the year, the staff from the Academic and Career Advising Center provides the opportunity for students to drop by for a quick review of their résumé. Resumania is held at many locations throughout campus.

A full schedule of workshops and presentations on interviewing, résumé writing, choosing a major, career choices, and job search strategies round out the range of services offered to career explorers and job seekers. The center's professional staff often works with representatives from the employment community to present informative workshops, both at the Center for Career Services and in the classroom.

Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Students may stop by the Career Center to meet with a staff member for a fifteen minute consultation regarding resumes, cover letters, job search strategies, choosing a major, and interviewing skills.
Note that Quick Question Hours are designed specifically to meet with a staff member, however, students may visit our office in Wintergreen 119 to use our computer lab and career resource library at any time during our daily office hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
