First and Second Year Student Living Options
Your first year of college is an exciting experience that offers you new opportunities, friendships, and personal growth. Southern residence halls are designed to help you adjust to college, develop independent living skills, and support your academic success.
Living on campus provides unique access to campus events and services designed especially for students. Residence Life staff members are trained to help you adjust to college life and access all the resources the campus has to offer. Residence hall staff members provide educational and social programming, assist the hall council, and provide students with personal and academic support.
Traditional REsidence Halls
Chase, Farnham, Hickerson, Neff, and Wilkinson Halls provide traditional on-campus living communities. Each building provides both double and triple rooms with community bathrooms. Each building provides housing for approximately 250 undergraduate students (primarily first-year students). Residents have access to social and quiet study lounges, community lounges, computer labs (in most buildings), on-floor laundry, a kitchen area, and recreation equipment. All floors are same-gender living. These traditional residence halls are located on the West Campus and Residence Hall Quads. The halls are close to classroom buildings, dining services, campus services, recreation, and athletic fields. Traditional residence hall students are required to purchase a full meal plan.
West Campus Residence Complex
West Campus offers four-person single bedroom suites or double and triple rooms with community bathrooms. Housing is available for 350 first-year and upper-class students in an air-conditioned building. Residents have access to social and quiet study lounges, community lounges, computer labs, in-building laundry, a kitchen area, and recreation equipment. This building offers co-ed and same-gender living. West is a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified residence hall offering the latest trends in a green living environment. This building is located on the West Campus Quad with attractive grounds and is a short walk to classroom buildings, dining, campus services, recreation, and athletic fields. West Campus residents are required to purchase a full meal plan.
