At Southern, our commitment to your success doesn’t end at graduation. The Office of Career & Professional Development (OCPD), in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations, is here to support alumni for up to three years after graduation-whether you’re seeking a career change, exploring new fields, or mentoring the next generation of Owls.

Career Advising Sessions

Reach Out Early

Email us at careerservices@southernct.edu with:

  • A brief summary of your current goals (job search, career change, industry connections, etc.)
  • Your most recent resume and/or LinkedIn profile
  • Any specific employers or industries of interest

Schedule a Career Consultation

Our team offers 1:1 career coaching sessions for recent graduates and young alumni. Services include:

  • Resume and cover letter reviews
  • LinkedIn and networking strategy sessions
  • Interview preparation
  • Job and internship search strategy

Use JOBSs, an online job board for full-time or part-time work, co-ops, internships, and on-campus student employment.

Leverage LinkedIn & Our Employer Network
We'll guide you on using LinkedIn and other tools to uncover mutual connections. Our team may also help identify and connect you with professionals working in your targeted industry.

1. Become a Mentor

Support current students through career conversations, resume reviews, or mock interviews. Email careerservices@southernct.edu to get involved.

2. Share Opportunities at Your Organization

Let us know if your company is hiring or accepting interns. We'll help post your opportunity and promote it to students. Email moranp7@southernct.edu in External Relations.

3. Join an Industry Panel or Class Visit

Volunteer to speak about your career path or industry insights during one of our class panels or events like Industry Fairs, First-Gen Week, or Alumni Spotlights.
